Start Your Transfer
Ready to become a Bulldog? Let’s get started.
You do not need to navigate the transfer process alone. Whether you are just beginning college, halfway through an associate degree, or nearly ready to apply, UGA-Tifton can help you understand the next step.
A practical, step-by-step path to UGA-Tifton
STEP 1: Choose the UGA-Tifton program that fits your goal
Start with the destination. UGA-Tifton currently offers four undergraduate degree-completion programs.
STEP 2: Tell us where you are now
Contact UGA-Tifton and provide enough information for us to understand your current path.
- Current college or university
- Current major or program
- Approximate number of completed college hours
- Intended UGA Tifton major
- Semester you hope to transfer
STEP 3: Check your transferable coursework
Use UGA Transfer Credit Equivalencies and advising to determine which completed courses transfer and which courses actually apply to your intended UGA degree.
- Transferable credit is not always the same as degree-applicable credit.
- Plan major prerequisites before your final semester at the current institution.
STEP 4: Reach the transfer consideration requirements
For the Tifton campus, UGA currently considers students with 60 or more completed transferable hours and a 3.00 or higher calculated transfer GPA, along with the University’s timing and program requirements.
- Graduate from high school at least 12 months before intended enrollment.
- Complete at least one year of college by the intended enrollment term.
- Meet program-specific curriculum requirements and obtain program coordinator authorization.
STEP 5: Apply to UGA for the Tifton campus
Complete the University of Georgia transfer application and submit all required materials by the current Tifton deadline.
- Submit official transcripts from every college attended.
- Use the current UGA Admissions deadlines page rather than relying on an old date.
- Choose the Tifton campus and your intended program.
STEP 6: Complete the UGA-Tifton transition
After admission, work with UGA-Tifton to complete advising, orientation, registration, and other enrollment steps.
- Attend required UGA-Tifton orientation.
- Meet with your advisor.
- Confirm how transfer credit applies to the degree.
- Register for your first UGA courses.
When should I contact UGA-Tifton?
Earlier than you think. You do not need to wait until you are eligible to apply. The most useful conversation often happens while you still have time to choose courses at your current institution.
A good checkpoint is when you have approximately 45-50 transferable hours, but students are welcome to contact UGA-Tifton well before that point.
