From ABAC to UGA-Tifton
Stay in Tifton and keep moving toward your UGA degree
ABAC students have a practical advantage: you can complete foundational college coursework at a University System of Georgia institution in Tifton and then transfer across town to UGA-Tifton. The key is to plan your ABAC coursework around the UGA degree you intend to complete rather than simply accumulating hours.
The process from your current campus to UGA-Tifton
STEP 1: Tell your ABAC advisor that UGA-Tifton is your goal
Start the conversation early. Tell your ABAC advisor that you intend to transfer to UGA-Tifton and identify the UGA major you are considering. Then contact UGA-Tifton so both sides of the plan are clear.
- Do this well before your final ABAC semester.
- Bring your current academic record and a list of courses you plan to take.
- If you are undecided among UGA-Tifton majors, ask for help comparing the options.
STEP 2: Choose your UGA-Tifton major
UGA-Tifton currently offers four undergraduate degree-completion programs. Your intended major determines which foundational courses matter most before transfer.
STEP 3: Build your ABAC schedule around UGA requirements
Because ABAC is a University System of Georgia institution, completed general-education core coursework has a strong transfer framework. Even so, students should use UGA Transfer Credit Equivalencies and confirm major prerequisites before registering.
- Use the UGA Transfer Credit Equivalencies tool to check specific ABAC courses.
- Prioritize courses that satisfy both transfer credit and the requirements of your intended UGA major.
- Ask before substituting a course that appears similar but has not been confirmed as equivalent.
STEP 4: Reach the UGA-Tifton transfer threshold
Before you apply, make sure you meet the University of Georgia transfer consideration requirements for the Tifton campus.
- 60 or more completed hours of transferable credit by the application deadline.
- A 3.00 or higher calculated transfer GPA.
- High school graduation at least 12 months before the intended UGA enrollment term.
- At least one year of college completed by the start of the intended UGA enrollment term.
- Program-specific curriculum requirements and program coordinator authorization for Tifton.
STEP 5: Have a transfer checkup before your final semester
Do not wait until you have finished your current program to discover that you are missing a prerequisite. When you are approaching the final year – ideally around 45 to 50 transferable hours – review your record with your current advisor and UGA-Tifton.
- Confirm your intended UGA-Tifton major.
- Review completed and planned coursework.
- Identify missing prerequisites.
- Confirm that you are on pace for 60+ transferable hours and the required GPA.
- Identify the UGA semester in which you plan to enroll.
STEP 6: Apply to the University of Georgia Tifton campus
When you are eligible, complete the UGA transfer application for the Tifton campus. Submit all required materials by the current deadline.
- Complete the UGA transfer application and required statement or application components.
- Submit official transcripts from every college or university attended.
- Pay the application fee or use an approved fee waiver if eligible.
- Select the Tifton campus and the appropriate UGA-Tifton major.
- Use the UGA Admissions deadlines page for the current Tifton application deadline.
STEP 7: After admission, complete the transition to UGA-Tifton
Once admitted, UGA-Tifton will guide you through the final transition into your UGA degree program.
- Confirm your enrollment and complete required UGA next steps.
- Meet with your UGA-Tifton academic advisor.
- Attend required UGA-Tifton orientation before classes begin.
- Review how your transferred coursework applies to the degree.
